Starting off her 2022 strong with the entrance into the music scene, singer and songwriter Ashlyn Marie has gone two for two with her latest single, “Domino Effect”. Capitalizing off the success of “Blindhorse Blues”, she’s managed to slightly switch it up and incorporate an edginess into the song that showcases both her dynamic vocals and a swift instrumentation. Already receiving praise from some other notable music publications, we’re next in line to commend the work she’s doing. In the world of alternative pop music nowadays, it feels like you’re hearing the same recycled nonsense to put it bluntly, however “Domino Effect” flips the script effortlessly and infuses more than just a dash of originality into the mix. At the helm of Ashlyn’s powerful vocal display, paired with a heavier guitar tone, it’s hard not to fall in love whether you’re a fan of straight up rock or pop. She’s undoubtedly going to capture lovers of each genre, however it’s going to be a journey as she continues to release and evolve this sound.
It would be a total shame if we didn’t commend the production here as well. As polished as the final product came out to be, there’s also a grittiness that shows itself. How they managed to blend the two is a wonder, but we won’t question it as we dive back in for repeated listens. Our obvious recommendation is going to be to listen, but don’t miss out on “Blindhorse Blues” to really experience first hand the immense amount of growth from the debut to the sophomore release.
