Blending up the sounds of R&B, Pop, and so much more, Aries Kae has beyond blown us away with the recent release of her EP, Sunshine. We’ve got nothing but good things to say about the artist’s performance here. This record is complete, cohesive, and shows off everything the vocalist and creative had in store in terms of compelling stories within her lyricism.

At a run time of 20 minutes, spanning 6 distinct sounding songs, we quickly realized that no matter the genre of music you prefer, there’s truly something for everyone displayed here. What starts out more as a straight laced R&B record, slowly and consciously drifts off into featuring more Hip Hop beats and added features that added a really nice depth to the overall listen. On the tracks that featured Speeks Geak and Noreik Thascool, that’s when we felt the experimentation really came alive the most.

As mentioned, there really is something for everyone on here. If you happen to be a fan of either Lianne La Havas or Alicia Keys, then you might as well scroll down right now and click play, however even if you’re lukewarm on those artists there’s still so much to love. You can expect an overwhelmingly lyrical forward EP, but it’s not like the background and atmosphere are lacking either.

Speaking on the production side of things, it’s about as crisp, clear, and concise as you could possibly hope for. We’re not going to say that the instrumentation is too stripped back, but for the most part it feels like it is a concerted effort to turn the vocals up in the mix as that’s the real star of the show. There’s still enough happening musically that it never got dull in the slightest, but really you can’t help but hone in on the vocals from start to finish.

Seriously though, this was a lovely output for a debut EP from Aries Kae. With such talent spread across the board, we are sincerely hoping that a follow up is on its way in one form or another. No need to rush the artist, so we’ll just point you in the direction of starting with Sunshine and holding out for more music just like this.
