On just their second officially released single, the duo of Antisolar have completely surpassed all of our wildest expectations on their latest, “Do We Tremble at Night?”. Do yourselves a big favor and please read on for our glowing review, as well as a background on their musical project.

Made up of Olivier Raynal and Andrew Doolittle, two individuals that have been friends and musical partners for nearly 20 years, their band named Antisolar is something seriously special. On their freshly released single “Do We Tremble at Night?”, these two have created utter beauty all the while being on the opposite sides of Earth. Clearly the distance has not stopped their creative streak, because everything about this song is pure joy with serious messaging.

Born out of the complex topic of mass shootings and moving past that towards the endangerment of our planet, the goal for the song is to “lead listeners to seriously consider how they might be able to better our world despite the enormity of the challenges we face”. You’ll quickly notice how vibrant yet dramatic the song feels as it goes on, but the delicate songwriting and delivery of these lines is where the song shines its brightest. No amount of awareness seems to fix these problems, but we can only hope that continuing to put it in the spotlight will have a directly positive impact.

As for the actual arrangement and composition of the song minus the lyricism, it’s genuine and original to the highest degree. At the end of our initial listen, our impression and thought was really the feeling of how cinematic it was and how it could be placed in nearly any serious movie moment and fit right in. Everything about the seriousness in tone and the wonderfully placed instrumentation made for the ideal first listen. When you make the realization that this is only Antisolar’s second single, it makes you think the sky is truly the limit for these two bright minds.

While the duo have been making music together over the years, our hope is that they’ve set aside time to make something even bigger and grander. Not to discount anything they’ve put out thus far, and maybe it’s us being slightly selfish for wanting more, but we’re quite hyped on what a follow up could entail.

Without giving too much else away, mainly because we want all listeners to go in with fresh ears, let us please point you in the direction of the links below where you can listen and follow along for more. We know we will be, enjoy!
