Fresh off the release of their stellar debut EP Mushroom Flesh, we got the extra special opportunity to sit and speak with Animals Wearing Animals all about it. Please check out our full interview below.

Currently representing the music scene in Vancouver, British Columbia, Animals Wearing Animals are an indie rock band creating incredibly inspired and influenced music. On their debut EP Mushroom Flesh, they’ve literally left it all out on the table with soaring riffs, bombastic drums, and plenty of surprises that we’ll let you explore for yourselves. Of course, the cherry on top to our multiple listens was getting the chance to interview, so please, don’t miss out on a wonderful conversation.

According to the band, they’re playing that is created to “where you’re not sure if you want to headbang or dance”. Experiencing that exact feeling during our first listen, Mushroom Flesh takes on the identity of so many sub-genres of indie rock as a whole. Coming in at 6 total tracks, spanning right around 25 minutes in length, you’re immediately jolted into a sonic journey through the opener “Flawless” in which we felt it perfectly encapsulates what to expect on the rest of the record. Through these 25 minutes of twists, turns, and instrumental surprises, you’re hooked into this complete album experience that grips you from the beginning until the final notes. It certainly borders on more of a heavy feeling with garage and psychedelic inspirations, but Animals Wearing Animals have still managed to create something 100% fresh and original.

Now of course the priority here is to listen and experience the greatness, but obviously we would urge everyone to take the chance to listen to the interview as well. It paints the ideal picture of how exactly this was made, the background on its production, and a true look into the genius of these musicians. Furthermore, the band’s second album is 60% written at the moment, which has our hype levels at an all time high. This record perfectly aligns into our personal preferences for what we enjoy, so you better believe we’re going to need it to be released as soon as possible.

So for now, please check out the links below to listen, follow along, and stay tuned for much more on the way.
