Starting a little bit later in life, but proving that it’s truly never too late to follow your passions, Anchen Ji has been on an absolute roll as of late. She’s just shared her newest single called “Wait It Out”, and luckily for us, we got the opportunity to speak to her all about it. We covered a variety of topics like her passions and influences, how this song managed to come together, and what else we can expect in 2023. We’re urging everyone out there to take a moment and listen to this song, but also to learn a little bit more about a talented emerging artist.
Following up the release of her debut single “Stars”, she’s followed this path of pop music that’s undeniably lush. Having studied vocal performance and the business side of music at the coveted Berklee College of Music, it’s no surprise in the slightest that the final result has turned out so polished. Having worked with Chengcheng (Troy) Tang and Tyller Bolton to put together the finishing touches, honestly all of the collaborators here have gone above and beyond in creating something that exemplifies the forward thinking and experimentation within the genre. Nowadays so much pop-esque music feels rehashed and recycled, but it’s music like this that actually feels fresh and original. If anything, it’s set an immaculate base for the future in which we sincerely hope Anchen continues to create and share.
On the background of it all, Anchen gave us a lovely description and origin story of the song as well in which she says it’s “giving hope to listeners that real love will overcome obstacles”. That’s a main standout for us on the song besides her vocals, is the messaging is strong and unbelievably relatable. We’ve all got our own problems, and if someone like Anchen can follow her dreams, then so can you!
