Amy Mantis and the Space Between light it up on feel good record, "A Place to Land"
Review by Austin Sher
It’s almost here! Amy Mantis and the Space Between are on the verge of releasing an incredibly feel good album, titled A Place to Land. We haven’t been able to turn this one off! Please read along for our full review of the record, in addition to a bit of insight into the band.
After playing show after show everywhere from SXSW to New York’s famous Rockwood Music Hall, Amy Mantis & the Space Between have set out to capture the excitement of their live show on a record, but never imagined they’d be releasing it during a time when live music would literally be outlawed. What you’re going to get on A Place to Land are 10 tracks of high energy rock music that makes you feel like they’re right there in the room with you.
Listening to the 3 song sampler of the record, which included the tracks “If I Told You”, “God’s Gift To Man”, and “Call It What You Want”, we were sold, this is the type of music we needed in our life. As mentioned, bringing their typical high energy live show into a recorded format made it feel like you were right in the room with them. The way that the album's production turned out was a perfect hybrid of mixing, specifically in terms of the balance of instruments in addition to Amy’s killer vocals.
If there’s one thing we miss in this day and age, it’s watching a guitar solo happen in real time. The riff midway on “God’s Gift to Man” brought it to real life for us. The high energy vibe they give off, the compelling lyrics, and tones they produce are top notch. If we weren’t fans of Amy Mantis and the Space Between before, we apologize, because we must’ve heard about them too late.
The full album is out on October 16th, 2020 and we’re highly suggesting and recommending you head to their Bandcamp page and purchase immediately. We’re lovers of all things rock and roll, so our bar is set a little higher than others, but in this case, our expectations were certainly surpassed. As soon as our listen was finished, we had to dig into the rest of their discography. Not necessarily a shocker, but it hits just as hard as their newest work. This band so clearly knows the sound they’re going for and executes it while making it like far too easy.
Have we made ourselves clear yet? It’s about that time where we tell you to stop reading...and start listening! For all things Amy Mantis and the Space Between, to listen, and to keep up with all future releases, please check out the following links below.
