Allie Alvarado returns to form on massive EP, "Strong"
On her first music release in nearly seven years, Allie Alvarado has returned to form in a big way on Strong. Please read on for our glowing review of the record, in addition to a background on this talented artist.
Written throughout 2020 in Berlin, Germany while visiting her old bandmates, Allie Alvarado ultimately found the inspiration to create again after being brought back to those good times. Thankfully that spark hit, because everything on her newest EP Strong is sensational, experimental, and full of literal jaw dropping moments. It should probably come as no surprise, but we were instantly enamored during our listen and can’t wait for everyone out there to dig right in.
Coming in at four total tracks, spanning right around fourteen minutes, we found Strong to be the perfect bite sized album to fill the body and soul with endless amounts of energy. Inspiring through her imagery-filled lyricism and detailing of personal life experiences, she’s so eloquently paired that with a production that’s next level. According to Allie, it was like working on a puzzle trying to work out all of the kinks of a direction to take it. If you consider the themes being discussed like grief for example, you’d ideally want the tone to match the subject matter. That’s exactly what she’s done, which ultimately makes the music hit that much harder in the long run.
A sincere recommendation for all who plan to listen would be to do so with a nice pair of headphones or sound system. There are seemingly infinite production subtleties that would otherwise be missed out on if you didn’t. The attention to detail on the opener and title track “Strong” is unreal if you really listen closely and the art becomes that much more grand when you listen in. Truly, we’ve got no qualms or major critiques to point out here and only hope that Allie’s creative spark stays strong for further releases down the line. We can’t wait another seven years for a follow up!
