Alexander Saint crafts atmospheric masterpiece on newest single, "The Light"

Toronto based artist Alexander Saint has re-emerged with his new single "The Light". As a multi- instrumentalist, he crafts sonic pictures with his one-man rig, using contemplative melodies and driving rhythms as his brushstrokes. Having travelled across North America on tour and playing his first solo shows in Toronto and Los Angeles, his music has matured into honest storytelling about loss, phone.

Speaking to Alexander regarding the meaning of “The Light”, he let us know, "I can tell you I've been searching for the light for a long time, in a lot of wrong places. This is about taking the power back from those who hold it, the constant fight within ourselves and what we perceive as true. I wanted to use the song as a vehicle to be more empathetic to each other, and drive back the darkness together. As a Mixed-Black man, the light for me has been negotiating that feeling of being in between worlds, searching for my own power within, and not letting others dictate who I am, or where I belong." Not only can you feel the power from the artist within the words, but the song absolutely speaks for itself as well.
Going on with close to no background or feeling on how the song would sound, we were absolutely taken aback as to what we heard. What an incredibly dramatic, emotional, and atmospheric track that Alexander Saint has created here. Our immediate first impressions were how this could easily have been a Radiohead B-Side, which for us, is some seriously high praise.
With the added instrumentation featuring violins, it created an overwhelming depth that is hard to capture into sound these days. The added deep rhythmic bass in the background was wonderful and felt great while listening on a nice pair of headphones as well. What really impressed us the most, was Saint’s impressive and wide vocal range, that was a seriously impressive performance. It instantly made us wonder why his hiatus was so long and how much we could’ve had, had he been making music in the meantime. No rush though, music is art, and it takes as much time as it needs.
All in all, this song was an absolute hit and an atmospheric masterpiece. It put us in a fantastic mood and got us excited for whatever is to come next from the artist.
