Alex Beck crafts another memorable hit with single, "Tunnel Vision"
Delivering an ethereal single titled “Tunnel Vision” to keep her streak of hits alive, Alex Beck is back with another memorable one that we’re highly recommending. Read on for a closer look into the track, as well as a much needed background on the artist.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Alex Beck’s musical tastes are quite expansive ranging from the rock classics to 80’s pop, and beyond. However, she’s taken those inspirations and managed to modernize them into a unique niche that she’s building for herself. On her newest single “Tunnel Vision”, she’s put her dynamic vocals in the forefront and built an astounding instrumentation from the bottom up to create something that we’ve 100% vibed with on her multiple listens. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll give this a spin as soon as possible.
Having attended Berklee College of Music and that clearly having an impact on her growth and influences, we’re thrilled to say that the diversity really does show in terms of what you hear on this specific single. While we could point out probably 50 different things we found enjoyable, some of the standouts here were how this song continues to build in momentum and emotion from the opening notes. It’s definitely on the softer side to sort of immerse the listener, but by the end you’re in this grand atmosphere of sound and style that’s dripping with cool. Alex’s vocal styling clearly has an edge but in the same breath, are inviting to the listener to really make a connection within her deep lyricism.
Through swirling synthesizers, novelty production effects, and a feeling like you’re floating, there’s a certain dreaminess that has come into play as well on this indie pop track. There’s no doubt that her influences like Tame Impala or Angel Olsen have made themselves apparent, but honestly they’re really only stepping stones to a completely distinctive touch that she’s added. As she’s been quite prolific since her first single in 2020, we’re completely on board for the experience to see what else she releases in the coming years. “Tunnel Vision” is absolutely one of her stronger songs and will serve as an ideal entry point to the rest of her discography.
