Alas releases best EP yet, "Sweet As Honey Melancholy Love Stuff"

Just released on May 7th, 2021, Alas has put forth his EP, Sweet As Honey Melancholy Love Stuff, that is combining influences from 90’s Hip Hop, modern instrumentals, and a touch of R&B. For those unaware, Alas is a Mexican-American artist who is quickly turning heads within the music industry with each subsequent release. We’re beyond impressed with this latest output.
What started as a dream of becoming a lawyer, thankfully transitioned to the grind of tirelessly writing and recording songs. After his debut in June 2020, he’s been working consistently to put out new releases. You can hear it by digging into his growing discography, but the more he puts out, the more quality sounds are coming through. It’s absolutely wild the growth we’ve heard in such a short time, but the production and context on Sweet As Honey Melancholy Love Stuff is top notch.
Coming in at 5 total tracks, spanning just about 15 minutes in runtime, this EP is the perfect bite size listen for nearly any part of the day. We particularly loved how the vibe and atmosphere swiftly changed from track to track. Honestly, some of the songs you could dance along to and some you could kick back and really focus in. As different as each one sounds like, it still has that overly necessary cohesive flow that records these days are lacking. There’s a certain signature style present here that lets you know that without a doubt, it’s an Alas original.
Picking out a single that was our favorite would be a near impossible task. Our real recommendation here is to start at the beginning, press play, and go on a journey through Alas’ mind and musical expertise. There really isn’t a “bad” track here, it’s all just so chill, relaxed, and ready to be replayed a million times. We immediately added it to our playlists so we could get back to it as soon as possible.
If you’re in the market for a top notch record that is sure to put you in a good mood, please look no further because this one's for you. We’ll be over here waiting patiently for a follow up from the artist, but obviously no rush from him as we know these things take time.
