Alan Peck pens laid back & groovy jam on R&B-inspired "Dazed"
An absolute slow jam and laid back vibe from beginning to end, Alan Peck has crafted something incredibly special with the fresh release of “Dazed”. Read on for an in-depth analysis of the track, as well as a much needed background on this artist.
Bridging the gap between the best parts of 90’s era R&B all the while infusing glimmers of the future into his mix, Alan Peck has served up the vibes with “Dazed”. Focusing on certain minimalist elements to truly amplify his artistry and songwriting, he’s put himself right at the forefront vocally to really make this song pop. As this was our introduction to the artist, we didn’t quite know what to expect before clicking play, but now we consider ourselves to be mega fans. Don’t miss out on this stellar single.
Giving us an origin story of the song, Alan Peck has claimed “this particular curated world battles between infatuation and true love, with the listener placing themselves wherever they fit on the spectrum”. If there’s one thing that we particularly enjoyed, is that we felt the lyricism here really does give the opportunity to leave things up to interpretation. Even Alan has said there’s “no right answer here” but ultimately some people go off the deep end in pursuit of love even out of a deep commitment or rather just living in the moment. To be honest, it’s an all too relatable sentiment that doesn’t get nearly enough music made about it, so we’re thrilled that he’s given an outlet for those to commiserate.
Speaking on the instrumental though, right at the forefront, “Dazed” is this calming piece of art that takes chances but doesn’t stray too far from its limits. Alan’s voice is spectacular and helps to set that tone initially, but as the song goes on, he plays up the dynamic feeling and really lets loose. As mentioned, there's so many gimmers of the 90’s here that we missed dearly, but in an ever evolving world of music, he’s looked towards the future and set a base for more genre-specific releases to come out just like this!
