Ainsley Costello serves up an anthemic new single, "Cherry On Top"
Sliding in right at the end of the year with her 5th single of 2022, Ainsley Costello has saved her best for last with “Cherry On Top”. Do yourselves a favor and keep reading for our thoughts on the track, as well as an update on this artist.
Bridging the gap between Pop, Punk, Rock, and so many other elements in between, Ainsley Costello has completely crushed it with the fresh release of “Cherry On Top”. Brimming with attitude, clever lyricism, and seemingly infinite catchy moments spread throughout, we sincerely haven’t been able to get it out of our heads. If for some reason you’ve yet to be introduced to her music, this is an ideal entry point to explore the rest of her rapidly growing discography.
Taking influence from some of the current greats such as Hayley Williams or P!nk, Ainsley still has managed to impart her own personality and individual characteristics into the song. She describes it as “pretty punk” that showcases her classic sass, but it really does go above and beyond compared to everything else she’s shared this year alone. How she toes the line between a harder instrumentation during the chorus and then softens it up with a sweet ukelele was undoubtedly our favorite moment, and honestly a really great stylistic decision from the start. Pop punk nowadays is making a real resurgence as you all probably know, but this actually aims to switch things up and confidently think outside the box.
With help on the production from Christian Harger and bringing in some of Nashville’s finest musicians like Jason Brooks (guitar) and Peter Wilson (drums), she’s surrounding herself with a team that’s fulfilling her vision and taking her overall sound to greater heights. Ainsley has also claimed this may be indicative of a future sound, and in our opinion, we would love to hear more music like this in a similar vein. As long as she’s at the forefront laying it down with powerhouse vocals and expressive lyricism, we’re on board for whatever else she serves up.
