Acediac share another thrilling single, "Suffrage" ahead of project release
Ahead of Acediac’s full project release titled VANITAS, the second of 3 singles has just been released. It’s called “Suffrage” and we have instantly fallen in love with it! Please read along with us as we break down our complete thoughts on the track, as well as a background on the artist as well.
Blending up multiple genres that could be broken down into alternative electronic, folk, jazz, ambient, and more, Acediac is the solo project of Miles Ragan. Taking influences from a wide array of artists like Neil Young, Chaka Khan, or Passion Pit, this artist has managed to inject his own personal sound and style into this newest track, “Suffrage”.
We’d love to kick off this review by just immediately letting you know this is something you need to listen to as soon as possible. It’s really not often we’ll suggest it at the beginning, but this is absolutely the type of music we didn’t know we needed in our life. Loving the influences listed above, we also got a heavy dose and feel of Dirty Projectors as well. If you like your music experimental, well produced, and slightly challenging, give this a go immediately.
What apparently is usually just Miles creating these sounds was flipped around when she got the help of a live band in Vincent Costello (guitar), Andres Hernandez (drums), and Olivia Orth (bass) who knocked it out of the park on their respective instruments. Seeing as though this is just a taste of what’s to come on VANITAS, we’re over here just waiting patiently for its official release. According to the artist though, music videos and instrumental mixes will be released alongside these singles & streamed secret shows push will be happening at local Boston venues.
Without giving too much away, because we’d prefer you just listen for yourselves, this 6 minute track has taken us by an instant hold. There’s not a negative thing we could possibly say about it or the recently released singles, but the clear standouts here are the vocals from Miles and the expert production that has allowed for everything to mix in so seamlessly. Not knowing what to expect when going in for our first listen of “Suffrage” was the way to go, because we came out of it with our expectations blown out of proportion.
A lot of music comes our way as you could imagine, but as far as first impressions go, Acediac has earned themselves fans for life here. It appears that there are previous works that have been released as well, so we’ve definitely assigned ourselves some “musical homework” in order to get caught up on everything shared so far. We suggest you do the same!
It’s at this point that we’re going to point you in the right direction by clicking all of the links below in order to listen, support, and follow along with a band that’s going to impress you. Enjoy!
