All set for release on July 23rd, 2021, Shiny Joe Ryan has broken his musical hiatus on his sophomore record, Shiny’s Democracy. We got the incredible opportunity to sit with the artist himself to hear all about the inner workings of the album. Watch our interview below.

7 long years later and Shiny Joe Ryan has made his triumphant return with the ending release of Shiny’s Democracy. In our full interview with the artist, we got the inside scoop on everything important surrounding the creation of this record, a sneak peak into Pond’s 9, and the long awaited explanation of the lead single “Ketamine”. If this is your introduction to the music of Shiny Joe Ryan, you’re about to have your minds blown by an immaculate album.

While we’d prefer for you to watch our full interview, the main priority of this article is to shift your direction and inspire you to listen to Shiny’s Democracy as soon as release day hits. You may be familiar with Shiny Joe Ryan from a couple other projects, mainly being a multi-instrumentalist in Australian psych rock band Pond and putting together the most memorable live show ever for Tame Impala. To no surprise in the slightest, his talents have finally been put in the spotlight again on a sophomore album that has quickly jumped to one of our top albums of 2021.

Coming in at 11 tracks, spanning just a little over 42 psychedelic minutes, Shiny’s Democracy does an impressive job hitting a wide array of genres and showcasing Joe’s vocals that nearly stole the show. While the album is more of an experience than a standard listen, a true highlight would have to be the top tier production and masterful process that makes its way in on every single track. With the help of bandmates Jay Watson and James Ireland, and a bit from Kevin Parker on the tail end of things, it truly cannot be overstated how much of a thrill the record is from start to finish.

On the lead singles “Ketamine” and “Pub Boat”, we couldn’t help but feel like the artist was putting his best foot forward sort of reintroducing himself to old and new fans, however there are plenty of hidden gems that have left to be uncovered. Some of our favorites on the record were “H20”, “I’m Getting Older”, and the absolutely stunning finisher “I’m Singing A New Song Pt. 2” that wraps up things in a beautiful and slightly emotional way.

With all that being said, we’re so excited for everyone to watch our interview with an artist that we’ve loved for years, let alone finding their new favorite album of the year. Additionally, it’s not too late to pre-order Shiny’s Democracy! Get that beautiful and limited Apple Red vinyl into your collection as soon as you can.
