All set for release on May 11th, 2021, Carter Hulsey is back with his long-awaited new record, Start Staying. We got the incredible opportunity to sit with the artist himself and get into the finer details of this release, as well as an insight into his processes as a musician, plus much more. Watch our full interview below.

Following up his 2017 record, Haunt Me, we’re beyond thrilled that Start Staying is about to see the light of day. As longtime fans, it’s been an absolute joy to hear all of the singles released so far, such as “Joplin”, “Jar Full of Fire”, and more. So far it’s been a swift return to form for Carter and we’re legitimately counting down the hours until the release and the live stream event happening on May 11th.

As for the interview, well we don’t want to give too much away because we’d obviously prefer you watch for yourselves, but we got into the weeds on what he’s been up to and what we can expect from the full release. In such a crazy time over this past year, it was quite interesting to hear all about the recording process into Start Staying. While we got some information in our last interview, it was a great 6 month follow up to hear how it eventually wrapped up, especially the finished product.

Considering that all of the artist’s releases have been top notch over the years, our expectations are definitely high for this newest record. With that being said though, each and every single he’s put out over the past few months has been a reason to look towards the album. Even the way that he has rolled out the album has been an adventure. For those not in the know, Carter took some cues from Radiohead and came up with his own personal touch of marketing. He sent out CD players to his monthly subscribers with the full album in order to get their feedback. Just imagine you’re a mega fan and a full album shows up on your doorstep, it must have been amazing!

Really though, the main priority is not the interview, but that you check out his tunes and help support this beyond talented artist. As a reminder, Start Staying comes out on May 11th and we’ll be listening as soon as it comes out. Make sure to tune into the live stream as well!
