Kicking off our weekend of infinitely amazing acts, Wet Leg took the Honda Stage at Austin City Limits in the middle of the hot hot heat for a dazzling performance of their greatest hits so far. Luckily for us, we were front and center to recount the early afternoon set, so please go ahead and read on for our full review below.

If you happen to be unfamiliar with the music of Wet Leg, have you been living under a rock somehow? Totally kidding, but these UK-based rockers have been making quite a name for themselves over the past year with multiple viral hits and a full length album that’s been on constant repeat for us. You may know them from tracks like “Chaise Longue” or “Wet Dream”, but truthfully speaking, everything they’ve released thus far has been an absolute banger in every sense of the word. It’s actually quite difficult to get a sea of people to show up in the middle of the day, especially at the hottest point, but Friday afternoon was jam packed with excited festival goers.

Not a glimpse of shade in the sky, but ultimately Wet Leg took the stage to a resounding applause from those who have most likely been waiting all year to see them do their thing. Jamming right into the opener “Being In Love”, the band held nothing back in giving us ear screeching solo after solo, mixed in with lovely banter that gave everyone the opportunity to get to know them. They even stopped the show mid set to appease a fan with a sign which said “Draw a Tattoo for me?”. The lead singer then took his sign and drew something in order for the super fan to actually get it tattooed later in the day, completely wild!

The rest of the set continued on to be something special and put the perfect taste in our mouths for the rest of the festival. They perfectly border the line between emphatic punk rock, alternative rock, and truly a thing of its own. Their debut album Wet Leg was shared earlier in 2022 and will undoubtedly be at the top of our Album of the Year list, so you can only imagine our sheer excitement to witness everything go down in Austin. If they’re coming to a city near you, do not miss it!
