Peaches Plays Entirety of "The Teaches of Peaches" at Just Like Heaven
Kicking our day off at Just Like Heaven Festival, the fans packed to the Orion Stage for an incredibly rare performance from Peaches! Celebrating the 20th year anniversary of The Teaches of Peaches, she played the record in its entirety from start to finish. Filled with hilarious antics, multiple costume changes, and a group of lively dancers, it was easily our favorite set of the day and has given us memories for a lifetime.
We’re happy we got there when we did, because the stage immediately became packed about 10 minutes before she went on. Everyone in attendance clearly knew how special of a performance this was going to be, but no one could have possibly prepared us for a set that transcended music and involved comedy, dancing, and infinite good times. Kicking us off were 3 dancers wearing see through tops that set the tone before Peaches came out. Once she did though, the metaphorical roof was torn off of the festival grounds.
Ripping through all her tracks with excess energy and a special pizzazz that makes her the best, we’ve legitimately never witnessed more nudity in a set than this one. That’s not a bad thing, but for all the kids there, well you just grew up real quick. As for the music side of things, Peaches didn’t miss a beat and we got transported all the way back to our childhood when this album just dropped. It felt revolutionary at the time given the context of the lyricism, mainly because we just didn’t think music could sound or have an attitude like The Teaches of Peaches does.
Saving the best for last though, she almost let on that she wasn’t going to perform it, but Peaches closed out the set with the album opener “Fuck the Pain Away”. Getting to hear that in person in a sea of literal thousands has changed us for the better. Seeing as though this was the first set of the day we watched from start to finish, we’re not going to lie, it was truly difficult to feel like we were having a better, more lively time than the 45 or so minutes she was up there. Every other band was stellar, and we’ve got more reviews to come, but wow, Peaches slayed to say the least.
If she’s coming anywhere near you and playing a show, don’t walk, run to grab a ticket as soon as possible!
