Bleachers Bring All The Energy to Corona Capital 2021

As if the energy of a Bleachers show isn’t already a 10/10, Jack Antonoff and his unbelievably talented band took the stage at Mexico City’s Corona Capital last week for a jam packed performance of his greatest hits. Coincidentally “taking the sadness out of Saturday night”, the band played a Saturday sunset set that lined up perfectly and kicked off our festival to its best capabilities.

Starting off strong with their opener “Let’s Get Married”, the CDMX Bleachers crowd showed up big and belted out every word with no hesitation. Considering Bleachers is literally one of our favorite bands of all time, we had to get there early for a front and center spot in order to amplify the show. With that being said though, as far as the eye could see going back, it didn’t really matter where you were, because each fan was individually vibing song after song.

The set went on to include more hits like “How Dare You Want More”, “You’re Still A Mystery”, and the ultimate festival hit, “I Wanna Get Better”. So much of what we love about seeing Bleachers live is that you can physically feel the intensity ramp up as the set goes on. Not to say that it starts out dull, because it doesn’t, but you begin to remember that every song is its own little world of greatness that means something to each person. If you’re a fan, you know the lyricism can mean so many things, but singing in a crowd of people you don’t even speak the same language as is one of life’s best feelings.

We had the opportunity to see Bleachers this year at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium, which offered a longer set, but the rarity and novelty of seeing them at Corona Capital far outweighs that show. The mid-set banter was so greatly appreciative of the fans and the opportunity to play their first ever show in Mexico City. It was an honor to be there.

One last thing is that if the music of Bleachers hasn’t entered your life yet, what are you waiting for? Get into it immediately and you’ll never look back.
