Pond Celebrate "9" Album Release with DJ Set at The Goldfish

Exactly one week after the release of their long-awaited album titled 9, select members of Pond stopped by The Goldfish in Highland Park, California for a celebration of epic proportions that went late into the night. For a moment in time, there was no better place to be on Earth as the energy in the room was palpable and all guests who attended were visibly excited.

Kicking off the night of seemingly endless hits was Spinning Top Music’s own Betty Fink, who at this event assumed the moniker of DJ Beaty Funk. Playing an eclectic mix of jams spanning multiple decades, all who entered the venue were immediately greeted with a wall of good vibes and sounds. As we got deeper into the night, Juan Izguerra got up to the DJ booth and did his thing for the following hour. Also bringing the atmosphere and feels to the crowd, it was ultimately the perfect precursor of sound before Pond hit the stage.

While unfortunately front man Nick Allbrook was doing an album release event of his own at Rough Trade Records in London, a majority of the band’s members still made an appearance for the night. Getting up to the decks at around 10:30PM were Jay Watson, James Ireland, and Shiny Joe Ryan who collectively blew our minds with a wild mix of music. To be completely honest, we weren’t quite familiar with everything being played, and would really love a playlist to see the light of day soon. The best part though was the subtle sprinkling of songs off 9 that made their way into the mix like “America’s Cup” and “Human Touch”.

As the night went on and the party continued its inevitable ramp up, that sweet and missed feeling of live music washed over us multiple times. In a year that severely lacked it and this event that came out of nowhere, all was right in the world for just a sliver in time. If you couldn’t be there, that’s unfortunate, and we hope that these brief descriptions didn’t evoke too much FOMO.

What we’ll wrap up saying though is that ultimately if you haven’t let the music of Pond into your life yet, they’ve just released potentially their greatest and most grand album yet titled 9. Not only have we linked everything important below like their music and social media handles, but we’ve also attached our in-depth interview with Nick Allbrook that broke down everything you’d ever need to know about the record and its release. Enjoy!
