Florida-based synth-pop duo Magdalena Bay brought nothing short of sheer pleasure and joy to their second night at The Warfield in San Francisco earlier this week. Luckily for you, we were there up close to recount the night. So please, check out our full review and photo gallery below.

The duo, made up of Mica Tenenbaum and Matt Lewin, released their first studio album titled Mercurial World in 2021, but have been putting out EPs since 2019, including three mixtapes called Mini Mixes. From the start of their performance, the band’s stunning visuals and unmatched energy made it easy for everyone in the audience to forget that it was such a rainy evening. They kicked off their set with “Mercurial World," the second track in their identically-named album. Next came “You Lose!” followed by “Secrets” and “2 Wheel Drive.”

Towards the middle of their performance, Mica picked up the keytar that she had been using earlier in the show while it was idle on a stand and strapped it on as a guitar in order to play the keys while simultaneously running around the stage. Fans cheered in jubilation as the duo interacted with the crowd and everyone was pleased to hear “Killshot,” the duo’s dream-like track that gained quite a bit of popularity on TikTok. Having had the opportunity to open up for Caroline Polachek on her current tour has already shown that the band is ready to take a bigger stage for themselves. With that being said though, their incredible music is being shown off to the masses and their fan base continues to grow.

If you are in the mood for nostalgic tunes reminiscent of simpler times, we highly recommend checking out Magdalena Bay. Click here for more information about their music and upcoming show dates.
