Concerts are back! On the night of September 29th, 2021, and what a joyous night it was, Andy Shauf and Hand Habits serenaded the crowd at the SoHo Restaurant and Music Club in Santa Barbara, CA. Read our full review below.

Opening for Andy Shauf and setting the mood for what would be an awe-inspiring night was Meg Duffy of Hand Habits who played a solo set. Previewing some new songs off their upcoming record, it set the stage for what would be a momentous hour-long set from Andy himself. As this was our first concert back in a “post pandemic” era, you could say our hype levels were at an all time high.

Speaking on Andy’s performance, and with help from his always stellar bandmates, the set consisted mainly of the hits from his 2020 album, The Neon Skyline. Having been lucky enough to see him play the album in full right before the world shut down at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre, it was a fitting night to get to see him rip through tracks like “The Neon Skyline” and debut some brand new ones from his recently released record Wilds.

As lovers of all things Andy and Hand Habits, the combination of the two was an absolute powerhouse of emotion and drama coming flooding back after not witnessing live music for so long. Parts of what we enjoyed so much about that memorable night were just how enthusiastic yet polite the crowd was. Considering it was a vaccinated show (or proof of negative test), it eased our minds to know that we were in a sea of responsible concert goers just as eager as us to witness the greatness.

If you happen to come along this article after discovering Andy Shauf or Hand Habits, and haven’t yet dug into their respective discographies, now would literally be the perfect time to do so. Fall is just around the corner in Los Angeles, which in our opinion is the perfect setting for their unique brand of sound. Truly, there isn’t much more we can say at this point other than if you were at the show, you know how great it was. If either are coming to a city near you, don’t hesitate, grab those tickets ASAP!
