Making their way around Southern California between Coachella weekends, we got the opportunity of a lifetime to witness Altin Gün at one of Los Angeles’ most famous venues, The Roxy Theatre. It was a night to remember for the rest of our lives, and thankfully for the readers, we’ve got all the details and a photo gallery to help relive it. If for some reason you’ve never experienced the band’s music, let this review be the reason.

Considering we’ve had tickets to this specific show dating all the way back to early 2020, you can only imagine how high our hype levels were when the show came fast approaching. While the band co-headlined with another great artist, Nilüfer Yanya, these Amsterdam-based rockers took the stage first and set the tone for the rest of the evening. Luckily for us it wasn’t our first time seeing them as we’d witnessed their greatness in 2019 at The Teragram Ballroom and another time opening for Tame Impala in Denver, Colorado. However, it’s been years now since we’ve seen them and they’ve released a great deal of music since then.

Opening the night up with some of their bigger hits off of 2019’s Gece and even treating the crowd to some unreleased tracks hoping to make their way onto a record in 2023, every single body in The Roxy was moving, grooving, and having the absolute time of their lives. There’s something so freeing about their style of music and how the melodic synthesizers come together to create euphoric highs throughout the songs. Even hearing people discuss their music before the set started and not knowing what to expect was a source of happiness for us, mainly because we knew that Altin Gün was about to blow the roof off of the venue for these unsuspecting concert goers.

Moving on throughout the night and bursting through other hits off of Yol and On, it was such a pleasure to be able to hear these songs that previously we had only heard recorded. The band works like a fine tuned machine and they somehow make their recorded tracks stand out in a live setting. The production on their records is always pristine, so translating that in a venue has to be difficult. With that being said, they pull it off flawlessly all the while keeping their individual energy extremely high. We’re typing this the morning after, sore from dancing, and sincerely hoping that Altin Gün make their way back to Los Angeles as soon as possible.
